Toddlers & Twos

We encourage our two-year-olds to be independent and provide them with guidance and patience as they learn how to manage their emotions and behaviors. Our responsive caregivers provide support & meaningful interactions to foster language development & improve communication skills.
We engage our two-year-olds with books, songs, games, & conversation.
We provide play experiences both outdoors & indoors and provide props & instruments for our children to use during music, movement, & pretend play.
We gently guide our two-year-olds in discovering & exploring, while allowing them enough independence to try new things.

Environment

The Toddlers & Twos and Preschool classrooms are organized into distinct interest areas, such as blocks, dramatic play, art, sand & water, table toys, music and movement, and library.

We read, sing, converse, and engage with the children often to encourage & support their language development, as well as their cognitive and social-emotional growth.

We offer the children a variety of toys and activities that enhance their gross and fine motor skills.  We encourage new skills by demonstrating enthusiasm and pride and providing support.  We provide opportunities for sensory play, exposing them to different textures, smells, sounds, & sights.

Block Area & Circle Time

Blocks are a valuable play material for physical development.  The Block area is a place for children to play together and share experiences.  As children build together, they solve problems and learn the benefits of cooperation.

House Area

The primary activity in this area is playing house.  It is natural for young children to play out themes familiar to them, and the most familiar is home and family life.

Library Area

Every day we read stories to the children.  We read books to introduce new ideas, to develop reading skills, to help children deal with problems, and mostly to develop a love for books.

Table Toys

Table toys are games, manipulatives, puzzles, and collectibles that children can play with at the table.  Children enjoy their variety and versatility.  Table toys offer them challenging opportunities to develop and learn new skills.

Sand & Water (Sensory) Area

Sand and water are both natural materials that are pleasurable for children; they encourage similar types of exploration and learning.  Sand and water play can be used effectively to challenge and soothe children's minds and bodies.

Playground

Toddlers are constantly on the move!  We have arranged our outdoor space that encourages toddlers to build, pretend, mold with sand, and ride their vehicles.
